Implement subject content Experiential activities for the 2022 – 2023 school year of Victoria Thang Long Primary & Secondary School, on September 22 and 23, 2022, the school organized for students of grade 4, 5 and secondary school to experience learning at the Center for Vietnamese Craft Villages (Bat Trang – Gia Lam – Hanoi).
Experiential activities of grades have content and objectives suitable to the School Program in the form of interdisciplinary integration of knowledge and skills of many subjects: Literature, History, Geography, Skills living… contribute to helping Vicsers develop and perfect their personalities, fostering their talents and creativity, through which Vicsers have more understanding of culture, history, and build a sense of preserving traditional cultural values of the nation.
All classes are divided into study groups and orientations by the teachers, transfer experience tasks according to topics and report outputs after the end of the experience trip. Vicsers Grade 4 and 5 collect information to complete project assignments with products such as paintings, articles (Vietnamese or English essays) about the beauty of Bat Trang porcelain. With Vicsers Grade 6, the harvested product is an article with pictures, documents or clips about a memorable experience at the ceramic museum; Grade 7 has the task of “composing” poems of 4 or 5 words with the theme “Bat Trang Poet”. Grade 8 is tasked with editing videos, introducing products, writing comments… about “Cultural values that last over time”; Block 9 undertakes the topic of presenting ideas and views “Creating the future from traditional values”..
Following in the footsteps of Vicsers in their journey of discovery and learning experience at the Center for Vietnamese Craftsmanship, we clearly see their excitement, interest and curiosity and desire to learn. Well preparation of “personal belongings” for the experience, Vicsers went with full backpacks from notebooks, pens, cameras, phones, etc., ready to learn, record and save the documents in throughout the first experiential journey of this new school year.
As soon as Vicsers arrived at the center, we were warmly welcomed by the tour guide. We sat together to listen and record useful data in the overview at the center of the Ceramic Museum. Next, Vicsers explored the ceramic museum on the 2nd floor of the Center, we seriously researched, exchanged and listened attentively to the explanations of the tour guides, passionate about documenting, and taking photos of products. Products at the museum, video interviews with artisans of the craft village…
The learning experience on the 4th and 5th floor of the Center is a place for traditional folk art performances, where Vicsers have more knowledge about unique ceramic art forms and together “enjoy tea” in an artistic space.
The journey to become “artisan” is the time when Vicsers are most excited about this experience, they get to become “Bat Trang potters” with the experience of clawing and molding. Everyone is very focused and skillful to knead, rotate, swipe and try to shape their “work” with their own style.
Finally, they were able to visit and learn about the exhibition booths on the 1st floor area. Here they can directly observe ceramic products, the quintessence of Bat Trang Pottery Village and other handicraft villages of the country. Closing the journey, Vicsers together participated in quiz games and teambuilding activities to remember useful information during the experience.
We were able to explore the exhibition museum to see the characteristics of Bat Trang ceramics through the stages, each finished ceramic product contains traditional cultural and artistic values and national quintessential beauty.
For many Vicsers, this is the first time to visit Bat Trang pottery village, directly observe the pottery making stages and witness the potter meticulously decorate every little detail on the lovely products. Meticulously take notes, take photos to go back to the School to edit videos or draw pictures, guys!
“Going for a day, learning a smart sieve”, the trip left good and meaningful impressions in the hearts of teachers and students of Vicschool. Every students has accumulated a lot of useful knowledge and wishes to have the opportunity to come here again to continue exploring. Parents, teachers and friends are invited to see some photos of the experience during this trip and look forward to the unique report products of Vicsers grade 4, 5 & Secondary Students!
